Local Sierra Club chapters can be really out to lunch compared to the what the
typical member of the national organization would think. In Albany they are
opposing bike lanes. In berkely they wanted to turn the landfill, which is now a
park, into a bird santuary. Too many people; not enough space, I guess. The
point should be made to these folks that garbage dumps built on former tide
lands are never going to be what was lost. Since they are surrounded on all
sides by people, the highest and best use is environmentally sensitive
recreation e.g., Windsurfing.

Let um get those salt ponds for the birds!
