I got a call this morning from Diane Schiano, the wife of the sailor who
was lost yesterday at 3rd. I am pleased to tell that he is alive and well.
Rick Voreck broke a boom yesterday afternoon and finally arrived to shore
in the early morning on the East side of the San mateo bridge. He spent
all night long paddling on his board, and apparently his strobe did not
function so the Coast Guard could not locate him. I'll ask Rick to post a
story on this forum - I am sure we can all learn something from this
incident. In the meantime wear a full wetsuit and check your strobe batteries.
