Has anyone noticed if these twisters are occurring only in line with the 28
runways? I have encountered very rough air dead in line with the runway
lights which is clearly wake turbulence which settles downward from planes on
approach. If the twisters are occurring in areas not in line with the
approach, then it would follow that they are from engine run-ups, cross wind
departures, etc. I suspect they are from approaches coming in overhead. It is
a known fact that the turbulent air sinks down through the clean air below.
Light airplane pilots are taught to fly a steeper approach then large jets so
as to come in above the sinking turbulence.
