- Let's see $150 x 3 = $450.... Fiberspar had some initial problems
with their carbon booms, but that's been fixed since the first season.
The problem with aluminum is that it reacts with salt water, weakens
and will eventually break ( this problem is worse in the presence of
other metals). In my personal experience carbon booms last much longer
and are alot more fun to sail. I've had one pair of fiberspar booms
that's lasted 3 seasons ( over 200 days of sailing) and is still going
strong. The rules of windsurfing buying I've learned over 16 years
are:

1. You generally get what you pay for if you buy from a reputable
company.

2. Never buy anything the first season it appears.

3. Buy in August and September.

4. Find out how well a company stands behind it's product.

- There's a tradeoff between length of adjustment and stiffness.
I've noticed that the new fiberspar tails are 38cm rather than 44cm.
Wish I knew why they made the change. Maybe it has to do with the
new all carbon head, if you shorten the adjustment you reduce stress
on the head.
