A few of us were in major "I gotta sail" mode on this rainy and
cloudy day. First we made the drive to ASD and spend some
$: I got the Techno, my buddy got saxo 270 and a 4.5. BTW - they
are giving you $50 towards a purchase of a new sail w/any beat
up old junker sail you bring in. That's right: bring in your old crappy
sails and get $50 towards a new sail. Sweet deal.

Went to Berk to see everyone getting off the water and rain start.
The pager indicated the Sherman was going - hit the road. 45
minutes later we pull into a lot where everyone has the "wow, what
a great session" look. The water is flat w/no whitecaps. They
sky is grey.

This is why I purchased the techno. Rigged an 8.3 and hit the water.
The first puff that I hit, I was planing: I am 207# dry. I was amazed at
how far upwind I could point. The speed of this board is awesome. It is
a blast to be going fast over flat water - it really is fun. It was flodding
last night, and I was still able to point waaayyyy upwind. When this mother
gets on a plane it feels like a tiny board. Jibing is a challenge, since
they are wide. Tacking is a breeze - I am by no means a great tacker
but I was nailing each tack.

I checked out the wind archive and the time that I sailed, for 2 hours
from 5:30 to 7:30 the wind was avg. in the low teens. There were
no whitecaps. I planed the entire time and had a blast.

When I finished, my buddy Erik (175#) took out my kit and FLEW. He
was good for 45 minutes. When he came in was getting pretty dark. I asked
Joani if she wanted to go out, and much to my suprise, she said yes. What
a stud - going out on big race gear (never been on cambered sails before this)
in the fading light hours, it's chilly and cloudy - core chick. From the beach
start she flew like a bat out of heck. Big sail for a very light woman. She
even waterstarted the monster - totally amazing. She came it at 9pm!!!!!
My wife rocks.

In summary, if you are a big guy and want assurance that you WILL be sailing
and having fun in anything over 10mph, get a wide board a big sail. It's a
kick.
Needless to say I am very happy w/my purchase.

Good winds to ya, Zeev.
