Here is the front page article in yesterday's Chronicle about the SFO
expansion.

Some major points were:

Millbrae officials sees the proposals as a way to reduce the aircraft
noise (by landing further out in the bay). (This seems short-sided
because the airport will expand their flight capacity with larger jets,
which will increase noise and other pollution!)

Environmentalist are concerned that filling the bay will delay the tide
flushing. This will increase bay pollution from waste sanitation and
runoff from the South Bay. (I better nail my jibes soon! %^)

There are two proposals (no graphics in the e-article). The second one
shows the 2nd parallel runway further north by ~100m (This option would
reduce the Coyote sailing obstruction, but both plans will block Flying
Tigers, and Oysters. During Coyote Westerly sailing the proposed runways
could be an obstacle to reaching the channel.)

To avoid the SFO landfill, the airport could acquire Moffett Field or
the former Alameda Naval Air Station to handle a segment of air traffic,
such as cargo.

Let's join the environmentalists (BCDC) to stop the expansion!
