It will be exceedingly difficult to counter the airport expansion plans.
The airport director (John Martin) is very savvy in manipulating the media.
 If you look at the TV or press coverage on the issue you will notice that
they talk usually very favorably about the expansion every time there are
delays at SFO. One alternative I see rarely mentioned is a high speed rail
link between SFO and LA and Sacramento. Such a link would reduce the
necessity of building new runways, while being more environmentally benign,
and would probably not be much more expensive than the $2 BILLION cost of
the expansion.
