Happy New Year, (year of the wind)
I just got back from a trip w/family to Hearst Castle-Cambria.
Pity I didn't bring my equipment because last Friday it was howlin at Arroyo
Laguna.
Two guys were out powered up on 5.0's and it brought back that old 'wind urge'
The surf was just about flat, but it looked like a really great place to sail.
I know last year was pretty good down there, better than up here.

Does anyone know how the wave rates? It looks like it is a beach break
dependent on the bars. The wind looks side-off. Does it get crowded or are
there multiple sections or peaks? It looked like there are other possible
launches too near Piedras Blancas, a little rocky though. Definitely worth a
low tide check.

The possibility of that break at Laguna getting lost to development by the
Hearst Corp. for the sake of a Golf Course is real but not imminent. The
shortage of water will fortunately be the major stumbling block. Keep your
ears peeled. If our brothers and sisters on the central coast need support
for this issue we should do what ever we can to help. This area is one of the
best on the whole coast!
