Hi Tech is a good place to rent. I just got back from Maui. They're 8'5" epoxy
wave boards and 8'4" glass wave boards are pretty good. My buddies got the 8'8"
wave and liked them a lot. The bump and jumb boards are a bit lame.

They're in the process of getting in the '99 sails, so by the time you get
there they'll have all of 'em in (North, Ezzy, Neilpride, Simmer) and they'll
be brand new.

Lot's of selection, cometitive prices, nice folks.

Have fun --> Greg

How's the sailing on Maui around Thanksgiving?

I've never sailed there - where is the sailing done? Kanapaali area?
Recommendations on cheap accommodations? Any airline deals going on that
you know about?
Any recommendations on rentals? Do I need to be able to transport gear, or
can I pick up rentals on the beach?

Thanks -Ron

I haven't been to Maui for several years (am going in 3 weeks also),
but as memory serves:

Sailing is mostly at the Kanaha/Specklesville/Ho'okipa side of island but
Kihei also has good sailing...and sometimes the wind is better at the Kihei
side.....Sailing sites are at Sugar Beach/ Pavilion/ and a park on a condo
row. I'm not sure what the November conditions will be like.

Kanapaali is not a normal sailing site.

Check out condo rentals, especially Kihei......I'm at Leinaala at 998 S. Kihei
Rd....sorry no phone, but infor will get you. This condo is mix of rentals
and owner/occupied has racks for gear and you can sail directly behid the
condo when the wind is right. Kihei is not totally resorty....but is
centrally located.

Check out Suntrips......there is a certain hassle level, but generally have
been pretty cheap for airfare....also check their package deals.

I've had good luck renting at Hi-tech and SecondWind. Mostly you need to
tranport gear. There used to be a guy at kanaha (3 years ago) who rented off
the beach, but don't plan on it.

Thanksgiving may be tough to book, as that is when the tourist season picks up
again.

for food Mama's fish house, Azeka's rib (buy and cook) and Alexander Fish and
Chips

regards
Jim Murdy
