Isabella Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline
Saturday - the coast is blowing, but Joani is not ready
to face the "red triangle" - damn that discovery channel.
The family heads down to Coyote, grandma meets us there
to take care of Johanna who wants to "play at the beach on
board". I did not have the heart to tell her that there is no
beach in Coyote (not a real one that is with clean sand
and waves). We went out at 3pm: I on 5.7/9'4" (207#) Joani
on 5.2/Screamer 263. When we got to the channel, Jo
was getting hammered by the size of the sail. Back to switch
to the 4.8; perfect. Played in the channel until about 4:30,
at which point the wind backed off. Joani went back out on
my kit and had fun for another hour. I went out at 5:45, after having
a beer, and sailed until 6:45, nicely powered the entire time.
Sunday - looked pretty non-windy all morning. In the afternoon
Pt. Isabella seemed to pick up nicely, from the west which is a
good direction. Went out on 6.2/9'4" and planed off the beach.
Very solid wind, getting stronger the closer you got to the island.
The island blocks the swells from the west, and it's shape
accelerates the wind close to shore - this creates a flat water
surface with very strong winds - great for hero jibes, body drags....
I sailed all the way into the Olympic circle and back, some
nice swells on the way. Planed back to the beach. Nice session.
