I do just that with the small one watt radio. I put the radio in the
waterproof bag which has a wide cord that is comfortable around my
neck. I then stuff it inside my wet suit. Since I wear a life vest to
stuff my booties inside, I don't worry about crashing and leaving a
radio imprint in my chest.
I suppose I don't need the bag, but I think it helps float the radio if
the strap comes off while using radio. Maybe I'll try it without the
bag sometime.
