There is no easy place to get out at OB. I can attest to this from learning
to surf there over the last 2 years. It seems a little easier due to the
beach curve if you launch from the Northernmost end (called Kelly's) which
is
where most of the windsurfers park.
 
Don't be expecting side shore wave sailing at OB. Except in some very rare
conditions (north or south winds without a westerly compenent) OB is at best
side-onshore and mostly just onshore.

Where do you launch from at the OB? Is there a spot where it's easier
to get through the break?
