Greetings,
Regarding Currents at the Golden Gate Bridge:
The Ebb flows have been stronger due to snowmelt from the River
systems. SF Pilots are adding 0.8 to 2.0 knots to the speeds listed
in the EBB current tables at the Golden Gate.
Included in the Golden Gate Tide Tables are several maps of current
flow and velocity for various stations located at the Golden Gate for
various times through the cycle of the tide. Note the reverse eddies
that form off Baker Beach and on the North Side of the Golden Gate as
the Ebb strengthens approaching Max. Ebb.
I tried to find these images on the WWW but only found data at:
http://unr.edu/homepage/edc/tides.html
West Marine stores give away free Tide Books that have the images
included.
5-1-98 0600 hrs Half Moon Bay:
Pillar Point Harbor was blowing steady at 22, g30 knots, mainly from
the South. Steady light drizzle. Should be good conditions today.
happy shredding,
JWC in Half Moon Bay
