desireable. I had my strap changed (replaced what was left) at Leading
Edge in San Mateo. Don't really know how to tell the difference between
caps. The old cap had sharp edges on the bottom on the slot where the
strap went through and maybe the sides (it's on the bottom of the Bay
now). Downhaul causes the cap to slice through the headstrap from one
side.

If your sail becomes more difficult to downhaul, check the headstrap for
wear. Mine became more diffult to downhaul on the session before, and
the session where it finally gave way. I didn't realize what was
happening, so I went on my merry way. It was hanging up on the headcap,
and massive downhaul caused it to fail.
