Subject: a wonderfully windy weekend

The summer pattern has delivered, in a big way. The entire
weekend was non-stop perfect wind at Rio. Please pass me
the coffee and the advil, I gotta get some work done.

Saturday: someone turns on the 'fans' and keeps them on. I was
very powered on a 4.8/8'5"(202# - yes, I have lost 5 lbs., which makes
an amazing amount of difference when you are trying to get up
on a plane...). The ebb and the steady wind made for some
amazing air time. A 4 hour session left me aglow - the two sierra
nevada's did not hurt either ;-)

Sunday: wow, the fans are still on! Went out on the same setup and
was a bit underpowered. Switched to the 8'8" and was perfect. Justin G.
came up to the access road and we had a good time together. Justin is
pulling off all his tacks and duck jibes, pretty impressive. If you were
at
the access road, you also got a good loop lesson from the hot sailors.
There
were three guys who were throwing forwards with ease. Carl, the dude on
the green board/Sheldon Sail (hey "TWavo", maybe he is from Mars?)
would launch, reach the apex of his jump and them casually throw his
forward. He was also the only person doing the same thing on port tack.

This was an awesome weekend for my hot sailor wife, Joani. She sailed
all the way across the river by herself, a first, gets in the harness every
time now, starting to use the straps and launched from the sand
bags at the access road. I am absolutely amazed at how fast she is
moving up the learning curve. This was the coolest part: on Sat. we went
home
for a birth day party. On Sunday Joani, not my little girl, wakes me
whispering: "hey hon, the tide will be changing soon and I just called
the windtalked - it's still cranking. Get your ass out of bed and lets go
to the river".........Yes I have died and gone to heaven!!!!!
