Holy Cow!...Nuclear winds in Berkeley???.....Mooooooo....
(yes, I know, not really nuclear ala The Gorge, but it's all relative)

See Sunday's Call of the Wind archive for the reason I am starting to
seriously consider adding a fourth sail to my quiver, plus a smaller board.
Went out at 1:15 thinking that I was being a bit of a chickenxxxx rigging
my smallest sail, 4.9, when my gauge was only averaging 20 or so from His
Lordships levee (always a bit higher), but wind was building and fog bank
outside the Gate looked promising for sustained blow. Needless to say,
from first hook-in till 2 hours later, it was pretty exciting.
Step-daughter Amy joined me, but she launched from docks, so unprepared for
it (started with 5.7). She wound up changing sails twice and never really
caught up with the "curve". After an hour or so of getting dumped on way
too many jibes, I finally started getting the hang of it and felt pretty
good at end of session, if a bit worked over. Area was unusually crowded,
with lots of non-locals (Marin-types?) and one SUV with two guys who asked
me what the name of "that orange colored bridge over there was", and if
this was a "good day" (before I'd launched). I answered both questions
correctly :)
