Just yesterday, I added a pair of boogie-boarding gloves to my
safety pack. They fit over the entire hand and have webbing between
the fingers. I figure they come close to doubling the surface area
of the hand. I can't remember what I paid for them, but it was
probably about $20 (on Oahu-3 years ago). They seem to be stretchy
enough to get over regular windsurf gloves. Another idea, that I
haven't tried, is to simply sail with them on. They may bunch up a
bit when grasping the boom, but the advantage would be the ability
to immeadiately swim after a board that is quickly going down wind.
