Being a veteran tower (and tow attempter), I can answer a number of your
towing questions:

1) If you have adjustable harness lines, use them as long as possible

2) You are correct about the uphaul. Even if you have a tow rope, I recommend
using an uphaul line as well- the elastic makes it a great addition- tie them
together.

3) DEFINITELY attach it to your harness. Having towed people trying both the
footstraps and the harness (a suggestion from PLEE), I can state that the
harness is by far the best, especially when overpowered. Don't hook it to the
hook though- I simply tied the tow line through the back of the harness. That
way, when you are hooked in and towing and a gust hits you (or the other board
hits chop), the force from the tow line helps to balance the gust. When it is
tied to the back footstrap and a gust hits, the board stops, and you go over
the front.

4) Try not to hit the "haulee" on the head when waterstarting. The longer your
tow line, the better.
