Subject: stolen boards - 5/4/97 in Mt View
Reply-To: alain@sgi.com-DeleteThis

Maybe the fact that sunday was my 13th sailing day should have worried me...

It started with a broken mast at Davenport :( - this was a UP mast which has
a 2 years warrante so it might be covered, then again UP doesn't make masts
anymore... Great sailing from 2-4 (5.3/8.4 with lots of downhaul - 205#),
until the broken mast in the waves - tip must have touch the bottom when I
got separated from my rig after a hudge wall of water rinse cycled me. I've
never seen that many people there before (not like anyone offer to help me
with my long swim anyway). Waves were braking upper, lower and in the
middle. head high surf to logo+ at times - TONS of people which made it hard
to park (new "improved" parking sucks...)

Then I came home, put my 2 boards next to my car (underground parking - out
of view, but I didn't lock them) for less than 20 minutes to get my car
washed across the street. When I came back, someone had decided to walk away
with the boards in broad day light, with people near by (yet no-one saw
anything)! I couldn't beleive it !...major bummer. I was gonna get new boards
anyway, but I least I could have gotten a few 100s for them at a swap. I
guess now I HAVE to get new boards... :( (I don't have renters insurance
yet).

Here is what got stolen... I don't expect to see them again (I will also post
this at local surf shops - my guess is that the thiefs probably will try to
unload those "surf" boards for not much), but would appreciate if anybodys
comes across a really good deal on those boards :)
