Subject: Errant golf balls / Dented Booms!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Folks

I don't know if anyone has written about equipment being damaged
by golf balls at 3rd, but I have a story.

My friend Bjorn Alblad was down rigging a couple weeks ago and
a golf ball hit his chinook booms and actually dented the
boom. I could not believe it, it left a quarter sized dent
about 1/4" deep in his booms near the head with a perfect
inprint of a golf ball texture in the grip!

Needless to say his booms are ruined.

Bjorn talked to the folks at the club house about the golf
ball but did not discover his damaged booms till the next day.

I don't know how hard your heads are but I believe if it were
my head it hit instead we would have been talking fractured
skull!! I have kids that we bring along sailing, I am planning
on keeping them out if the rigging area until the get a net up.

I don't know if Randy Anderson is on this reflector or not,
if not please forward to him. This needs to be brought
to their attention.

If any one want's to talk to Bjorn about it directly call him
at home: (408)354-8035 (he's not on email).

BTW the first golf ball that landed near Bob actually hit my
brand new Ezzy 4.2, fortunately no damage.
