the wind was on the ocean, not over the land. bouys were on fire, but
the trees and grass were still on the drive west. finally, at the top of
inverness ridge, there was wind.

I got to limantour at 12:30, fred from sonoma was already there, and two
berkeley guys pulled in right behind me. we started rigging 4.7s and small
boards. more sailors showed up. and then more.

I zipped up to the waves in record time with the northerly wind, but was
OPed once in the surf zone. very low tide made sand bars a hazard too.
I rode afew and then decided I'd be better off going back to rig down.
ZZZZip! back to the launch in a flash, one screaming 2mile broad reach.

30 minutes to change sails and I'm planning back up the beach again, well
powered on the 4.2 until I hit some serious holes way outside.
struggling through that trial, I arrived back at Steam Engines
(the engine is completely buried right now) to find 15 sailors tearing it
up and getting thrashed themselves. The waves were very nice, long and
clean, but the screaming sideoff wind made the sailing a real workout.

I had the camera with me, but never took it out, as I was on a tight
schedule and needed to get some wave time in for myself. 1996 tuba photos
will have to wait for another day. at 4pm I cracked off for another single
sizzling 2 mile broad reach. another dozen sailors were doing the do
down at the limantour launch. Every one having a great time and
getting really worn out. there were crews from both berkeley and crissy,
probably the most windsurfers (25) limantour has ever hosted. the
parking lot was tight, but there was plenty of room on the beach and in the
water.
