Subject: SFBA Happenings?

Hey, anyone know when the next SFBA event is? I either got dropped off the
mailing list or they haven't done a recent newsletter. Seems like last
year this time (4/1 or so), there was a season-opener party. What gives?

Was Friday great or what? Judging by the posts and the smiles on the faces
of the folks at Third, a good time was had by all. Here's what I said on
rec.windsurfing, if you're interested:

OK, so it really wasn't opening day, but Friday, 3/22/96, was the first
epic day of the season. Third blew 20-30 knots all afternoon, and coupled
with a nice ebb in the late afternoon, conditions were pretty sweet.
Parking lot was completely full, with folks taking up even the firelane
spots. Everyone was there - Ken P, Kirk, Jim P, Pierre, Lisa, Bill L,
Clint, and yes, even Jay showed up (rumor has it, Jay has a real job, say
it ain't so, Jay!).

At 185# I started on a 4.4, was getting hammered, and went down to a 4.0.
The 4.0 was still overpowered in the channel, where there was 4-5' swells
at peak ebb (around 5:30). Much airtime was had by all, but I could tell
(speaking for myself) that it was early season, 'cause they didn't seem as
high, and there were lots of bails. The pager was reporting gusts at
Coyote at 27, but it was easily exceeding 30 in the channel. Crissy was
reporting gusts in the 30's, with averages from 27-29!

The Bay's water was that chocolate-brown Yoohoo-looking stuff that yells at
you, "The Season's HERE!" Lots of smiles and extra-long arms all around.
