5:00 to 7:00. 8'2"/5.3 (185#).
Fine for about an hour. Nothing exciting. Marginal for the last hour.
Was much stronger earlier in the day...
I might be stating the obvious but here is some info you might find
useful if you like to sail on smaller boards... The bottom line is
"put a big fin on your small board and you will sail it all the time".
Although I weight 185 pounds, I sail a small board/small sail
combination all year round. Until last week, my only board was a 7'10"
seatrend (74l) which I replaced with a new 8'2" seatrend (70l). I most
often sail these boards with a 5.3 Wave NR. So far, I have only seen
Women sailing these boards in the bay area... I sail this when
everybody else is on 8'6"-9'0"/5.0-5.5 (140-200# range)
When I bought the 8'2", "they" recommended an 9.5" Rhino which I guess
would be the right size fin for this board. Tried it. Waaay too small
for me. Couldn't go upwind at all. The board was not even sailing
straight. Maybe it would have worked with a 4.3 sail but I think my
weight enough was too much for that baby.
Switched to a 10.5" Dill fin (which is very wide...lotsa surface) and
was about the same as the fin on my old 7'10". Worked great. I'll be
sailing this combo all the time...
Try putting a big fin on your small board and see whether you like it.
The big fin is no help when the wind dies of course...
