Took Windsight's best bet (good call Mike), arrived Coast Guard station @
2:30pm (turned to ebb), COTW says avg 14 (it was). Too light to sail, so
took short walk to Fort Point and back. 3:00pm - Wind's Up and sailors
powered up on 5.0s. We hit the water at 3:30pm, I'm on my 5.0 and 8' 8" ASD
RKT, O'Ped. Switched out to a 8'6" ASD glass and now, I'm much more
comfortable. I'm (always) amazed at the confused chop on the 1st half of
the reach across the bay, but then as you approached the North tower the
water got smooth, then glassy. Sailed till 6:00, mostly around the North
tower and in the sizable swell just outside the gate. It was still blowing
when I came in, which is my preferred way to end a day(Bill). And COTW was
still averaging 14. Very believable, looked like little wind at St. Frances
YC.

The 5:00p angel island report looked pretty good sunday. What were the
sailing conditions actually like?
Thanx Ken
