The bottleneck seems to be at the bottom of the ramp - that causes
the line at the top of the ramp.

A lot of this problem would be solved if, when coming in, one
hit the shore upwind of the ramp and walked/drifted down to the
ramp. The people launching could come down the ramp, take a
right turn and get out of the way, downwind of the 'done' sailors.

There are some worse problems:

1) People who have to adjust a bunch of stuff at the bottom of the
ramp. Sail out 50 yards first.

2) People who practice jibes and tacks 10 yards off the end of the
ramp. Get outta here! The bay is enormous, nobody is watching you
anyway. At least have your photographer sit by the upwind ramp instead
of the launch ramp.

3) People who rest/chat by the end of the ramp. There is a very nice sandy
beach for resting. Chatting is best done at night.

At high tide, it is easier to come in to the beach to do a board change
(unless you are 6'6"). The walk from the beach to your car may be
shorter than from the ramp to your car. (Really! check it out).

I sail 3rd a lot and the launching problems are minimal. The
sandbags at sherman are much more crowded, for example. Except when
high tide occurs right at 5:30, there isn't much of a launch problem.

I am going to sail barefoot. Jay.

ps - I am rigging a 5.2.
