Subject: Re: San Luis Forebay Status?

Here's my two cents, coming from someone whose waterstart works,
barely, and is still fighting to get it not to be a fight. I've made
several recent advances that help me.

     1. San Luis is good for practice, no currents, waves and not so
     crowded (providing there is wind).

        2. Always set up the sail in position on the tail of the board, don't
try the push the sail out of the water and go yet.

        3. Wear a vest, designed for windsurfing, they do not get in the way
and really reduce the effort in deep water. (con: in water that is just
barely standable they make it so that it is difficult to stand)

        4. Front arm straight, steer the sail.

        5. This made the biggest for me, and came from my father-in-law's ABK
        camp manual:

a: back foot in middle of board, front foot in water, ROLL THE KNEE
FORWARD (as if you are trying to make the knee touch the universal), AND
PUSH HEAD FORWARD TO MAST....TRY TO KISS THE MAST.

Other than this, good luck as is needed for significant other
        instruction.

Anyone have current weed and water level info for the forebay?

Realizing there's a direct relationship between the water level and weeds,
can anyone tell me how to interpret the stated water elevation (mentioned on
the San Luis windtalker) as sailable, or not sailable?

Was hoping to take my wife down to the forebay for some waterstart lessons
and practice this next weekend. Anyone want to loan, sell, trade some
advice? You all know the inherent problems I'm having trying to teach her.
I'll teach your spouse/signif_other,if you teach mine.
