The main effects of the flood are the following:
1. Apparent wind speed is decreased by the speed of the current.
        i.e. 17 mph wind + 3 mph flood = 14 mph apparent wind
2. You have to constantly point upwind to maintain position, which also
        necessitates more wind.
3. The water becomes very smooth, which is great for a floaty slalom
        board.

Use a small board and less sail for the ebb and a big board and big sail for the flood.

No, but the energy is a very good board for the flood and a very poor board for an ebb.
I use a blade, or slightly swept back blade in all conditions at crissy.
