Tahoe is tough to plan sailing on, because wind direction often varies
dramatically by the minute. Sail at Donner instead - much more predictable,
steady winds, sometimes in the 5.5 or 5.0 range or better. Just park along
the north side of the lake.

I think you can find a sailing concession or retail outlet in Truckee or vicinity
 to call to discuss further.

Just noticed it was blowing 21 at Lake Tahoe. Has anyone ever sailed
Lake Tahoe, and is there a way to forecast the wind a day or 2 in
advance? How about launch sites, and best time of year? I figure it
would be a worthwhile 3 day weekend family vacation if I could even
get 1 day of 10-15 knot winds.
