Personally, I'm with you. I want to try Tahoe as well. In fact, if
you ever get a road trip going there, please contact me and count me
in.
Other comments:
1) Bring the polar wet suit. 4/3 is probably just barely acceptable.
The water temperature, particularly with heavy snow runoff is going to
be around 45 degrees. Winter gloves are probably mandatory. A hood
might also be advisable.
2) The best windsurfing spot in the region is Washoe lake, which is
east of Tahoe.
