Use the mechanical joint that Fanatic used: Unlike Chinook, it is flexible
rubber and provides the same cushioning that the hourglass joint and tendon
joints do. Buy the joint and assemble it with the pins and bolts you prefer
right in the store with red Loctite.
However, you still have to face the prospect of the bolt or pin between the
board and the universal breaking . . .
