Subject: Getting to TUBA

Hi Michael,

Getting to TUBA: N on 101 to Sir Francis Drake Blve in Marin, W to hwy 1,
Right 200 yards, left on road to Pt. Reyes park HQ, go several miles and take
left on road to Linmatour. Park in lot where road dead ends. Rig and carry
stuff to beach. Sail upwind 2 miles, make bottom turn, make off the lip,
repeat until you reach beach, go back for more.

Tuba is best when the Bodega offshore buoy is over 22 knots and the Windsight
sensor at Bodega is over 20 knots and San Francisco Buoy is over 20 knots.
You can get all of the is updated every 3 hours via the weather radio or via
Windsight updated every 20min. along with a customized Tuba wind forecast
updated twice daily. Tuba happens most commonly from April to June but can
happen any time in the summer when the NPH moves towards the shore. You want
blue sky along the coast. See Bob Gavlins article or my older article in
Windtracks Magazine

CAUTION: The winds are side offshore and powerful. THe wnds are often much
stronger at Tuba than at the launch site. On you way back you will have to go
2 miles straight down wind. This is hard for most sailors. Carry all
emergency gear and at have least 2 buddies. Leave a note on your windshield
and tell friends at home when to expect you. There is no boat traffic in this
area and most days there are no sailors. If you break down you want help
fast.
