You have two quick and secure options: Put the Gorge Rack crossbars close
enough together that they hold the boards snugly, so you just need to pass one
long strap around the whole stack of boards before hitting the road.

Or, use Garb Straps for each board. I think Garb Straps, at about $20-25 a
pair, are a great time saver. They are elasticized to absorb any slack which
develops, but are quickly pulled taut to eliminate any slack when you are
racking up. They have quick-release hooks, so that the length need not be
adjusted each trip.
