Yes, this is a nice trick, and it can make some fun out of a light-wind day.
Also learning waterstarts in very light wind can improve your windsurfing
skills, and could be really usefull some day.

It is also possible to uphaul the sail without the uphaul line! Of course it
is a lot easier and safer with an uphaul. But even during World Cup races,
this 'trick' is used from time to time!
