Hi gang-
I'd like your input on this. As if I haven't got enough to do,
with a new baby on the way, work, and everything else, I've recently
discovered the WWW. I pulled the HTML and HTTP documentation off the
net, and was considering doing a comprehensive online guide to sailing
sites in the Bay Area accessible via WWW. I've noticed that there is a
Windsurfing server based at Stanford (the URL escapes me for the
moment, it's Yahoo something), but it's basically Kirk's FAQ in HTML form.
What I was thinking about is doing one with maps/directions/graphics and
details on individual sites, including tide data which is available from
NOAA. If anyone is familiar with the Houston/Galveston guide, it would
be similar, displaying a map of the Bay with selectable sites to obtain more
detailed info, including local shops, etc... I've noticed frequent
requests for info from out-of-towners for this stuff (specifically maps
and directions), and locals would benefit from the site-specific tide data.
The reason I'm asking is I know people are sensitive about their "secret"
sites and I wouldn't want to tread on any toes. Please let me know if
you think this is a good/bad idea. If enough interest is expressed,
maybe we can get SFBA to contribute, and perhaps, do a Web-site
for their newsletter.
Thanks.
