Subject: Fabulous 3rd

Yesterday was another fantastic day at 3rd, strong ebb and the wind filled in to
the launch. I used my 4.7 (I'm 195) for the second time in a week, this late in
the season! The swell was nicely formed in the channel and the inside was relatively
flat, so on starboard reaches I was surfing the swell or ripping inside. Some
people were getting amazing air, I was making due with my gravitationally challenged
vertical hops. 12/14 dunk jibes (I like positive statistics).

Was it just me or was the wind really *much* stronger than what the wind reports
listed:

94/09/07-1351 SFO 65 52 330 20 . 20 30.03 200 -bkn /st w-n
94/09/07-1450 SFO 66 51 320 23 . 20 30.01 200 -ovc /st w-nw
94/09/07-1550 SFO 64 51 310 24 . 20 30 200 -bkn /st nw
94/09/07-1651 SFO 62 52 290 22 . 20 30 200 -bkn /st w-nw
94/09/07-1750 SFO 62 52 310 14 . 35 29.99 200 -bkn /st w-nw

I have a tough time gauging windspeed, but it was definitely more than 24 knots,
especially beyond the channel marker.

Looks like more of the same today! Remember "pumpkin hour" has been just after 6
like clockwork, if you don't want to slog back in.

Chris
