I've broken booms a couple of times (though not out off of Crissy in
a ebb tide %-\ ). One time, I used the slack in my bungee uphaul line
to wrap around the loose end of the broken boom tube. Another time,
I had to flip the boom over, and used some tow rope to "butt" either
end of the broken tube together and lash them in place. This enabled
me to sail back in fairly securely.
Glad you made it in on your own!
