Subject: Lost & Found Jetski at 3rd

Since my last question (and Luigi's preceding message thread on the lost
green rig) generated so much interest, I thought I'd run the risk of asking
another question of Peninsula sailors in the know. Thanks for all your
responses to my previous query.

Was anyone else around last season at 3rd Avenue (I think it was August) when
a sailor towed a jetski in (it was a large multi-passenger orange one)? This
was the first, and most likely, the last time I think I'll ever see that
happening. It was a more or less windless day, and the owner of the jetski
was nowhere to be found. The guy who towed it in said he found in in the
middle of the channel just drifting with no sign of the rider. I was curious
and called the Coast Guard the next day, and they said they hadn't heard of
it. My theory was that it either drifted away from the beach when the tide
went up, or the guy abandoned it in the Bay when the engine quit and swam in.
Some guy called it in on his car phone, but I didn't hang around to see the
result as I was on the wind search.

Did anyone else see this last season? Does anyone know if the owner was ever
found or what the story was?

Just curious.
